Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 10, 2026
STYL is a closet app first — most of what you do here is private by design. But STYL also has a small, optional social layer, and where people can see each other, we want it to feel safe, kind, and worth being part of. These guidelines are the friendly, human version of the acceptable-use rules in our Terms of Service. They apply to everything other people can see: your handle, display name, avatar, and any closet items you choose to share.
1. How sharing works on STYL
STYL's social layer is deliberately small and deliberately opt-in:
- Your closet is private by default. Nothing you upload is visible to anyone else unless you decide otherwise.
- Your public identity is just your handle, display name, and avatar — that's what other users can find and see.
- Following someone gives them zero access to your closet. A follow is one-directional and purely social.
- Close friends are mutual — both people have to accept. Even then, a close friend sees only the individual items you've turned sharing on for, piece by piece. Everything else stays yours alone.
2. Post your own stuff
STYL is for your clothes and your style. Keep what you post yours:
- Only upload photos you took or have permission to share. Don't post photos ripped from someone else's account, a brand's catalog, or anywhere you don't have the rights to.
- If a photo shows another person — even in the background — get their consent before sharing it. When in doubt, crop them out or don't share it.
- Pick a handle and display name that are genuinely yours. Don't impersonate another person or brand.
3. Never post
Some things have no place on STYL, in shared items, handles, display names, avatars, or anywhere else:
- Other people's private or personal information — addresses, phone numbers, IDs, or anything that exposes someone without their consent (doxxing).
- Non-consensual or sexual imagery — intimate images shared without consent, or sexually explicit content of any kind.
- Illegal content, or content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity.
- Medical or financial records — yours or anyone else's. STYL is for clothing photos, not documents.
- Hateful or harassing content — attacks, slurs, threats, or degrading content targeting a person or group. This applies to handles and display names too: a slur is a slur whether it's in a photo or a username.
- Spam or scams — bulk unsolicited requests, fake giveaways, phishing, or using friend requests to push links or sell things.
4. Zero tolerance: content involving minors
5. Tools you have
You never have to just put up with something that makes you uncomfortable:
- Report a user. Filing a report sends us a moderation record to review. The other person is never told who reported them.
- Block a user. A block is decisive: it immediately severs any follow or close-friend connection in both directions and makes the two of you invisible to each other — in search, friend requests, and shared closets — until you lift it. Unblocking doesn't restore old connections; you'd both start from scratch.
- Per-item sharing controls. Unshare any item at any time, and it disappears from your close friends' view instantly.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account entirely, in-app, whenever you want — see our Data Deletion page for exactly what happens.
6. What we do about violations
When something breaks these guidelines, we act. Depending on how serious it is and whether it's happened before, that can mean:
- Content removal — the violating item, avatar, handle, or display name is taken down or reset;
- Feature limits — losing access to social features while keeping your private closet;
- Suspension — a temporary lock on your account; or
- Permanent ban — for severe or repeated violations, your account is terminated.
Appeals: if you believe we got it wrong, email support@styl.fit with the email address on your account and what happened. A real person will look at it. (The one exception is Section 4 — child-safety removals are not appealable.)
7. Copyright complaints
If you believe someone on STYL is sharing content that infringes your copyright, please use the formal DMCA process described in the Terms of Service (Copyright complaints — DMCA policy). It explains exactly what to include in a takedown notice, how counter-notices work, and our repeat-infringer policy.
8. Questions
These guidelines will grow as STYL's community does. Questions, concerns, or something we missed: support@styl.fit.
